Getting closer to our vision

Friends of Generations Vermont,

Here we are in the spring of 2026, one step closer to opening an intergenerational care center in Berlin. When I last wrote, we had just signed an option agreement, a period of site investigation and review, with the owners of Berlin Rehabilitation and Health.

Over the winter, our design team has been hard at work. May and June will bring the completion of the center’s initial architectural drawings, beautifully rendered by our friends at Duncan & Wisniewski Architects, as well as the start of local and state permitting applications, supported by Catamount Consulting Engineers.

June 30 marks the completion of Generations Vermont’s original development grant from the Department of Disabilities, Aging and Independent Living, secured through the support of Senator Rich Westman. I would also like to thank John Mandeville, Casey Winterson, and the entire team at the Central Vermont Council on Aging for sponsoring us during our startup phase. Their guidance and support helped bring us to this exciting moment.

Now we are ready to fly.

This June, we will officially launch our capital campaign. Building a new and innovative intergenerational care center is a significant undertaking, but the vision is worth it. The total project cost is estimated at $6.5 million, of which approximately $2 million must be raised through private philanthropy. The good news is that we have already secured more than $350,000 in support from individuals, foundations, and community partners who believe in this mission.

Beginning July 1, I will become Generations Vermont’s first employee, allowing me to dedicate my full attention and energy to moving this project forward. While building an intergenerational community care organization means navigating new territory, the progress we have made over the past two years gives me every reason to be optimistic about what lies ahead.

Generations Vermont is more than a building. It is a vision for bringing generations together, reducing isolation, strengthening families, and creating a place where people of all ages can learn, connect, and thrive.

I invite you to help us build that future. Please share the Generations Vermont story with your friends and neighbors, visit our website, and consider making a donation or getting involved. Together, we can create something truly special for Central Vermont and for generations to come.

With gratitude,

Erin Clark, RN
Executive Director
