A New Approach to Care in Central Vermont
High-quality early childhood education and comprehensive adult day services for seniors and adults with disabilities

Vermont faces challenges in meeting care needs due to an aging population and insufficient childcare.
To address the care crisis in Central Vermont, Generations Vermont aims to launch an intergenerational day services site, providing early childhood education, support for adults with disabilities, and assistance for older adults living at home.
According to Let’s Grow Kids’ 2022 report on childcare, Vermont faces a shortfall of 8,752 early childhood education slots, including 5,000 for infant care.
Intergenerational Day Services Model
Successful in the US and globally, Intergenerational Care addresses the social isolation of older Americans — a major concern in rural areas — while combatting ageism and optimizing care resources. Children in this setting learn social skills, empathy, acceptance, and gain the emotional benefits of friendship with older adults.
